Ring Builder Apps for Shopify: Pricing, Reviews, and Setup (2026)

Search "ring builder" on the Shopify App Store and you get about fifteen real apps before the results turn into ring sizers and form builders. The category is young: the most-reviewed jewelry-specific builder has fourteen reviews, several have one or none, and two of the biggest names in the results are general customizers that happen to rank for the term. Here is the field as it actually stands, checked against the live listings.

The field

Below these sit the newer and smaller entries: Gemtheon ($99 to $499 a month, 3D on the upper plans), BuildARing ($250 a month), Pencil ($199 a month), The Diamond Port's builder ($1,499 one time), and free apps from Diamonds On Call and CARATWISE. Eight of the fifteen apps in the search results launched within the last year. The category is still being built, which is worth weighing before paying anyone $1,499 or $2,000 upfront.

Read the review counts differently

Fourteen reviews leads this category. The two apps with real review volume, Kickflip at 135 and Zakeke at 92, are general product customizers serving every industry, with no diamond feeds and no jewelry logic. So the usual App Store heuristic, sort by rating and install the crowd favorite, does not work here. Every jewelry-specific option is effectively unproven by review volume, which makes the free trial the real test. All but VDB offer one.

Subscriptions, one-time fees, and percentages

Subscriptions run $49 to $345 a month, and price does not track the listed features: Keyideas at $145 names more diamond feeds than GemFind at $295. These are the app fees alone. Feeds can carry their own costs, RapNet is a paid Rapaport membership billed separately, and VDB's monthly range is tied to its API plan, so a feed-driven store's all-in cost runs higher than the app column suggests. One-time models ($1,499 at The Diamond Port, $2,000 and up at VDB) front-load the cost and make sense once you trust the tool. The generic customizers charge less monthly and take 1.5 to 1.95% of each custom order, and at engagement ring order values that percentage usually exceeds every subscription in the table. A $5,000 ring pays Zakeke $75 to $95 in fees; two of those a month costs more than Keyideas.

Feeds decide it for engagement rings

If shoppers pick a real certified stone, the app must connect to where stones live: Nivoda, RapNet, VDB, IDEX, or your own CSV. For engagement rings that single requirement eliminates the general customizers and Ring Facet, and makes the feed column in the table the first one to read. Check that your feed is listed before you look at anything else; GemFind, for example, does not support moissanite or other gemstones.

3D or images

The listings claiming real-time 3D are Ring Facet, VDB, Zakeke, Gemtheon's upper plans, and CARATWISE. Keyideas and Brilliance Builder swap photos and 360° clips instead, and GemFind's listing claims neither. Image-based looks as good as the images behind it and covers only the combinations that exist as images; 3D handles any combination and lets the shopper rotate the piece. Whether that matters depends on how wide your options matrix is.

Off the App Store

Everything above installs from the App Store. A second tier runs on Shopify without living there: managed platforms and custom builds, which embed into your store as snippets or theme code. Gemist starts at $500 a month plus implementation, and an agency-built configurator costs a few thousand dollars and up.
