Midjourney makes more beautiful jewelry images than any jewelry-specific tool. It also makes jewelry that cannot exist: prongs that hold nothing, shanks that pass through themselves, stones with cuts no lapidary has heard of. Tashvi makes less spectacular images of pieces closer to real. Which matters depends entirely on whether anyone is going to try to make the thing.

Midjourney is the better image generator
No hedging: on pure image quality, lighting, composition, and mood, Midjourney beats every jewelry-specific tool on the market and it is not close. If what you need is a hero image for a campaign concept, a mood board, a pitch deck, or an idea of a direction, use it. It is also cheap relative to the visual result and you probably already have a subscription.
Tashvi is the better jewelry generator
Tashvi is trained and tuned on jewelry, with a guided mode for setting type, stone shape, and metal, so what comes back is closer to a piece and further from a painting of one. It is answering a different question: not “what could this look like” but “what would this be.”
Where a general model actually fails
The failures are specific and they repeat. Prong counts drift between generations and prongs often do not contact the stone. Stone species are decorative: ask for a padparadscha and get an orange gem. Cuts are invented, with facet patterns that belong to no real cut. Settings are drawn rather than constructed, so a bezel has no wall and a pave field has no seats. Metal junctions are impossible, with shanks merging into galleries in ways that cannot be cast. And nothing is repeatable: the same prompt tomorrow gives a different ring.
None of that matters for a mood board. All of it matters the moment a customer points at the picture and asks for that one.

The trap in the middle
The expensive mistake is showing a customer a Midjourney render and taking a deposit. The image is beautiful, the customer is sold, and then the piece has to be designed properly, which usually means it changes, which means an awkward conversation. If you are going to show a general render to a paying customer, say what it is: a direction, not the piece. That single sentence prevents most of the trouble this technology has caused jewelers so far.
If neither is enough
Both stop at a picture. If the design needs to become a piece, the next step is a tool where the parts are controls rather than description. Can I use Midjourney to design jewelry for customers?

Why does Midjourney get prongs and stones wrong?

Does either produce a file I can manufacture?
