The design itself: how far down the controls go
Tashvi has a guided mode where you set the setting type, stone shape, metal, and accent stones, and an agent mode that refines a design over several turns. Ruby Kinglet's builders go further into the piece: settings, stones, and metals are separate editors with their own libraries, so a design comes out specific and repeatable instead of depending on how you worded a request.
That specificity is countable. There are more than 700 built-in jewelry components, including over 300 gemstone species and varieties, so you pick an Asscher or a bezel-set trilliant rather than describing one and hoping. Metals run from bases through satin, brushed, engraved, and anodized finishes. Settings are built from an illustrated library: prong styles, head styles, shank profiles, galleries, halos, setting methods, chain types, closures, earring backs. The angle library holds hundreds of camera positions, drawn separately for rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. None of that falls out of a general image model. The gemstone libraries in particular were built by a GIA Graduate Gemologist, which is the working difference between software built for one trade and a general AI tool with a jewelry page on it.
Some of that depth is not ours. Trained models and templates can be shared, so the library you start from includes work contributed by other jewelers rather than only what we shipped, and it grows without us. That is a structural difference rather than a feature: a tool built by one person around a prompt box has nothing to accumulate, and an enterprise product has no reason to let customers contribute to each other. Ruby Kinglet also runs design competitions with published themes, which is where a lot of that shared work comes from.
On top of the builders sits an AI Studio with more than 20 jewelry-specific editing tasks: swap stones and metals, adjust settings and findings, edit a small detail, add an inscription, control reflections and angles, remove an artefact, pair a piece with inventory stones. Each is its own tool with its own controls, not one generate button with a different prompt. Around that sit three things a prompt tool has no equivalent for. Mood boards, where you attach a directive to each reference image, “use this silhouette,” “swap to rose gold,” so the reference is instruction rather than vibe. Your own libraries, where you upload and reuse your own components. And more than 6,000 community templates to bootstrap a complex piece rather than starting from nothing.
Then there is training. You can train AI models on your own portfolio and use them across the builders, the AI Studio, photoshoots, and the rest of the platform, so what comes out reads as your work rather than the generic luxury look that every general model drifts toward. The tool accumulates your practice instead of resetting every session.
What that buys: pieces that are not crude
All of the above is machinery, and machinery is only interesting for what it lets you make. The practical difference is complexity. A prompt-driven tool is reliable on simple, symmetrical, conventional pieces, which is why so much AI jewelry looks like the same halo solitaire. It gets vague exactly where jewelry gets interesting: an asymmetric setting, a mixed-cut cluster, an unusual gallery, a piece where the back matters as much as the front. Those need parts specified rather than described, a way to edit one element without disturbing the others, and something to start from. That is what the builders, the 20-plus tasks, the templates, and your own libraries are for.
Ruby Kinglet has been in development since 2022, and the founding team includes a bench jeweler, a GIA gemologist, and machine learning specialists who have led AI teams in San Francisco and Singapore. That shows up in the vocabulary more than anywhere else: the software knows what a gallery is, what a knife-edge shank is, what setting method a given stone wants. Software written by people outside the trade tends to model jewelry as a shiny object. Software written inside it models jewelry as parts.
Work without a credit counter
Here is a difference jewelers notice fast: limits. Tashvi meters designs by credit, from 20 a month on the free tier up to 3,000 a month on its $50 top plan. Ruby Kinglet has no credit balance to buy and burn down and nothing metered on screen. Personal has a monthly cap. Professional's is soft, so you get a banner rather than a block, and Studio has none at all.
That sounds like a small difference and it is not. Metering changes how you work before you have done anything. With credits you decide whether a variation is worth spending on before you try it, and that decision quietly shapes the output: you stop at the version that is good enough rather than the one that is right, because the next attempt has a price on it. Take the counter away and you just try it. Trying an idea ten different ways is the job, and the tenth version is usually the one that ships. Ruby Kinglet is built so that on Professional and above the ceiling is not something you think about, because a creative tool you are rationing is a creative tool working against you.
Then it becomes a product
The design does not stop at an image. It connects to CAD, with STL and mesh creation per design and 3DM generation on the Studio plan. It connects to a full photo studio for product shots. And it connects to a storefront customizer a customer can order from. All four share the same workspace, so a model you trained on your own portfolio for design also shapes the imagery. Tashvi's output is a design image plus an STL export, which the next section gets into, and it stops there. For a lot of jewelers, that stretch, from a good render to a piece you can make, photograph, and sell, is the whole point.
On the CAD-ready claim
Tashvi offers an STL export it markets as CAD ready. It helps to know what that usually means. An STL is a frozen mesh: a surface you can print or mill, but not easily edit, resize, or rebuild by part. Most tools that turn an image into 3D hand you exactly that, a single black-box mesh, which is a long way from a file a bench can really work with.
Ruby Kinglet treats this as real CAD work, and it splits into two jobs. Swappable parts is for renders: take one 3DM and render it many ways, swapping metals, stones, and settings with the geometry intact. That is how you build a showcase range for a website, let a shopper customize the stones, or sell the same design in several metals without re-shooting anything. Editing a 3DM is a different job: you start from a 3DM you already have and edit it into a new piece, so a new design is bootstrapped off past work instead of modeled from scratch. Both run on a Rhino parametric engine with jewelry-specific libraries, so the geometry respects how a piece is actually built. One honest caveat: the parametric engine is the newest part of the platform, so it does its best work on common styles like engagement rings, with the broader range of jewelry still maturing. It does plenty of STL work too: photo to a printable, manufacturable mesh with a thickness check, and castable component parts you can compose into a 3DM. That is a different job from a generic image-to-STL step.
Either way, test any AI-generated file against your own manufacturing before you rely on it, from any tool, ours included. A render that looks right is not the same as a file that casts clean.

Where Tashvi still fits
Tashvi has a free tier of 20 designs a month with no card, and paid plans at $10, $30, and $50 a month for 200, 1,500, and 3,000 designs. If all you need is a quick concept image to show a client or post to social, and nothing downstream of it, that job does not need a platform and Tashvi does it cheaply.
Choose by fit
Choose Ruby Kinglet if the pieces you make are more particular than a prompt can hold, if you want the tool to accumulate your components, your templates, and a model trained on your own work, and if the design has to become something you can manufacture, photograph, and sell.
